Epic Says Wii U Is Powerful Enough To Run Unreal Engine 4
Epic Games, creators of the Unreal series that gave the engine its name, says that the Unreal Engine 4 can be made to run on the Wii U, provided it's scaled down. In other words, games that are released on the next generation of consoles can be ported to the Wii U, but at a price: lower quality graphics. They went on to say that they themselves won't be supporting Nintendo's new console with games running on Unreal Engine 4.
In an interview with Videogamer.com, Mark Rein of Epic told them that Unreal Engine 3 is "a really good fit" for the Wii U, which isn't surprising given that the new platform is supposed to be on par with the Xbox 360 and PS3, both of which used UE3 in a number of blockbuster titles. Here's hoping the Wii U will get more ports of games that the Nintendo faithful missed out on last gen.
