Nintendo has confirmed that the Mario and Luigi Deluxe Set is coming to North America. The bundle includes a 32GB Wii U with New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U on a single disc, and will cost $299.99 when it launches on November 1st. It appears that this new pack will replace the existing Wii U Deluxe Set which included Nintendo Land, which will be available as a digital download for just $29.99.

Nintendo of America's Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing Scott Moffitt gave the following statement in regards to the new bundle:

Mario and Luigi are two of the biggest heroes in video games. This new Wii U configuration gives people instant access to not one, but two of the most well-received Wii U games. It’s another example of the tremendous value and variety that Nintendo is offering consumers this holiday season.

New Super Luigi U - Video Review by the Wiiviewer

Luigi skidding in New Super Luigi U

The New Super Luigi U DLC was recently released on the Wii U eShop and it's been getting mostly good reviews, currently holding a 76% average on Metacritic. While the level design has been praised, the difficulty level is much higher than New Super Mario Bros. U and some reviewers have described it as "frustrating" at times. In other words, this is a game for hardcore Mario fans.

Popular YouTube user the Wiiviewer has weighed in with his opinion, and he has mixed feelings about it. You can watch his review after the break.

Video - What's Different in New Super Luigi U?

Update: 6/20 - New Super Luigi U is now available to download from the eShop

Nintendo UK has released a new trailer which highlights the differences between New Super Luigi U and New Super Mario Bros. U. The video shows how Luigi takes longer to accelerate and decelerate but can jump higher and farther than his brother, which will make for a more challenging experience. In addition, the layouts of the levels have been altered as well to give players a fresh take on the best-selling side-scroller. Also, the playable version of Nabbit is shown running through a few of the various stages - as you may know, he is meant for less-skilled gamers as he is invincible and won't take damage from enemies.

The digital version of the game will arrive as DLC on the eShop on June 20th. The standalone boxed version will be available on store shelves in Europe on July 26th, and in North America on August 25th. The physical copy is priced $10 higher than the digital edition, so that is definitely a consideration.

New Super Luigi U - Japanese Nintendo Direct Trailer

Screenshot of New Super Luigi U

Earlier today, the Big N held a Nintendo Direct presentation that focused on upcoming games in Japan. One of the titles featured was New Super Luigi U, the DLC for their hit launch title New Super Mario Bros. U. The company revealed the game is 1.5 GB in size, so if you don't have a hard drive, it will take up a decent amount of your console's storage space.

New Super Luigi U features the same world map as New Super Mario Bros. U,  but all 82 stages have been redesigned with Luigi's abilities in mind. The green-clad brother jumps higher than Mario, but it takes him slightly longer to slow down after running, which will make it more challenging than the normal game. While Mario does not appear, gamers can play as Luigi, Yellow Toad, Blue Toad, and Nabbit. Iwata recently confirmed that Nabbit is invincible, although he can't use power-up items.

The digital version will be available in Japan on June 19th, and in North America and Europe on June 20th. There will be a physical version released in Europe on July 26th, and North America on August 25th, but it will be priced at $29.99, $10 more than the eShop version.

During today's Nintendo Direct, a new trailer was shown which takes a look at the game with plenty of footage. You can watch it after the break.

New Super Mario Bros. U to get Pro Controller support when Luigi DLC arrives

Luigi skidding in New Super Luigi U

Nintendo has announced that an update for New Super Mario Bros. U is in development which will arrive around the same time the New Super Luigi U DLC is released. The update will do two things. It will allow players to download the DLC from within the game itself instead of being forced to do so via the eShop, and it will also add support for the Pro Controller, something gamers have been asking for since the Wii U launched.

In a recent Nintendo Direct presentation, it was revealed that the digital version of New Super Luigi U is scheduled for release in North America and Europe on June 20th. The boxed version will arrive in Europe on July 26th and North America on August 25th. In the United States, the DLC version will be priced at $19.99, while the physical version will retail for $29.99.

New details about New Super Luigi U

Luigi skidding in New Super Luigi U

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata revealed a few new details about the New Super Luigi U DLC which is coming to the hit launch title New Super Mario Bros. U. The world map will retain the same design, but all 82 stages have been redesigned with Luigi's abilities in mind. The green-clad brother jumps higher than Mario, but it takes him slightly longer to slow down after running, which will make it more challenging than the normal game. The impromptu "hard mode" will also give players just 100 seconds at the start of many stages, which will make things seem all the more frantic. Iwata says that the stages are meant to encourage multiple playthroughs.

From the sound of things, hardcore Mario fans should have plenty to keep them satisfied for months, if not years, to come.
