Injustice: Gods Among Us DLC coming to Wii U this summer

Lobo in video game Injustice: Gods Among Us
Lobo and much more should be coming.

Warner Bros. has been very reluctant to comment on whether or not any of the Injustice: Gods Among US DLC will be available on the Wii U. Just days ago, they said they had "not made any announcements" in regards to downloadable content for Nintendo's new console. However, it looks as though the Big N's fans will not be left out in the cold. After the game's official Twitter account was inundated with tweets from disgruntled Wii U owners, Warner Bros. finally confirmed that they are working to bring the DLC to the platform.

This is certainly good news. Had they stated the DLC is not coming, there could have been some serious problems, especially given the fact that the game's box clearly says the extra material will be available to download.

Warner Bros. still not commenting on DLC for Wii U version of Injustice: Gods Among Us (Update: DLC coming this summer)

Playing Injustice: Gods Among Us on Wii U GamePad

Update: Warner Bros. says the DLC is coming this summer.

Original Story

There has been a reluctance on the part of many third-party developers to speak about DLC for Wii U games, and the latest title with question marks around it is Injustice: Gods Among Us. The superhero fighter was released on the Wii U last month, and IGN confirmed in a video that the box said that the downloadable content is coming to the console. Warner Bros. recently announced that they are working on a "patch" for the Nintendo crowd, but they have not specified exactly what features it will add.

For those hoping the patch might include DLC support, it appears that the company still has nothing to report on the matter. Here is an exchange between the media giant and one of their followers on Twitter:

At least they haven't completely ruled it out. Hopefully Warner Bros. will be able to give us some answers in the near future.

Kevin Conroy may not voice Batman in Arkham Origins

Screenshot of Batman in video game Arkham Origins

Batman: Arkham Origins is a prequel to the first two entries in the hit Arkham series, and it is currently in development for the Wii U, Xbox 360, and PS3. Developer Rocksteady is working on other projects, so Warner Bros. Games Montreal is developing the game instead.

Mark Hamill has announced he will not be returning to his role as the Joker, and it appears that he may not be the only major voice actor who is sitting this one out. According to South African publication NAG Magazine, Kevin Conroy, who voiced the Dark Knight in the first two Arkham games, will not reprise his role as Batman in Arkham Origins. The article states that, due to the game featuring a younger version of the titular character, the developer decided to go with a different voice actor.

"To fit the younger vision of the Caped Crusader, WB Games Montreal decided to go with a new voice talent."
-NAG Magazine

Conroy, who recently played the role of Batman in Injustice: Gods Among Us, has been voicing the character for over 20 years, beginning with Batman: The Animated Series in 1992. It should be emphasized that there has not been any official confirmation that he will not be returning. If Warner Bros. or Conroy himself issue a statement, we will update this article.

As it stands, Arkham Origins looks quite promising. Warner Bros. Games Montreal has been given full access to the modified Unreal Engine used to make the first two games, ensuring that it will maintain the look and feel of the "Arkhamverse." In addition, Rocksteady has expressed confidence in the development team's abilities. Eric Holmes, who is known for his work as the lead designer of the open world action hits The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction and Prototype, is serving as creative director of Arkham Origins.

Injustice: Gods Among Us - Wii U gameplay footage with commentary

Looks like the DLC might be coming to the Wii U after all.

Screenshot of Batman and Doomsday in Wii U version of Injustice: Gods Among Us

Update: Warner Bros. says the DLC is coming this summer.

Original Story

As I mentioned earlier this week, there has been a shortage of information on the Wii U version of Injustice: Gods Among Us. IGN has finally gotten their hands on a copy, and they have created a ten minute video which goes over the Nintendo console edition of the superhero fighter. Surprisingly, they said that this was the first time they'd seen this version themselves.

Here are a few things that they have confirmed:

-It is "exactly" like the other versions
-Wii U GamePad support with touchscreen access to combos
-Pro Controller support
-The box says DLC is coming

You read that right. The box says the downloadable content is coming but there doesn't appear to be any mention of it in the game's options menu. The staff of IGN are also reporting that currently there's no way to associate your WB ID with the game.

Fortunately, it looks like some kind of a fix is in the works. Here is a message from producer Hector Sanchez via Twitter:

Sanchez didn't say exactly what the patch will add, but it's good to know that they're working on something.

You find the gameplay video with commentary after the break.

Injustice: Gods Among Us - Video Review by IGN (PS3 version)

Batman fighting Deathstroke in the video game Injustice: Gods Among Us

Update - 4/18/13: Producer Hector Sanchez says that a patch is in the works for the Wii U version of the game. Click here for details.

Original Story

As most gamers know, Injustice: Gods Among Us is now available in North America. The game features a number of characters from the DC Comics universe, most notably Batman, Superman, and the Green Lantern. Many of the voice actors who lent their talents to the Justice League animated series have reprised their roles, with a few exceptions such as the Joker, who is not voiced by Mark Hamill.

The reviews are starting to come in and it looks like a pretty solid game. As of this writing, the Xbox 360 version has a Metacritic average of 82% based on 17 critic reviews, while the PS3 is at 77% based on 8 reviews. Oddly, Metacritic doesn't have a single review for the Wii U version yet, but hopefully it will be up to par with the other versions.

There is currently one customer review of the Wii U version on Amazon, but there will surely be more posted in the coming hours and days. You can check out the game's detail page via the following link:

Injustice: Gods Among Us on Amazon

Wii U owners can play entirely on the GamePad thanks to Off-TV Play support, and the touchscreen can also be used to quickly access each character's move list. However, developer NetherRealm has not confirmed that any of the DLC is coming to Nintendo's console, so if you really want the downloadable extras, you may want to pick the game up for a different system. There is a chance that the DLC could eventually find its way to the eShop, but it looks pretty unlikely at this point, so the decision is entirely yours.

Vince Ingenito of IGN has completed his video review of the game, and he seems to have been fairly impressed with the superhero brawler. However, it should be noted that his review is for the PlayStation 3 version. You can watch his review after the break.

Injustice: Gods Among Us - Launch Trailer

...and a few notes on DLC for the Wii U version.

Batman and Green Arrow in Injustice: Gods Among Us

Update - 4/18/13: Producer Hector Sanchez says that a patch is in the works for the Wii U version of the game. Click here for details.

Original Story

NetherRealm's fighter Injustice: Gods Among Us is scheduled for release in North America on April 16th, and in Europe on April 19th. The official launch trailer has just been released, and it touches on the plot of the game, which tells the story of how some of the most well-known heroes and villains from the DC Comics Universe take up sides against one another under the leadership of Superman and Batman. You can find the trailer after the break.

A number of our readers have been searching the site for "Wii U Injustice DLC," and I have seen quite a few forum threads filled with users asking if the game's downloadable content is coming to Nintendo's console. In March, Kevin Cassidy of GoNintendo made the following post on his website:

It's looking more and more likely that these special DLC bits aren't going to hit Wii U. We've asked Warner Bros. about this situation, but have yet to hear an answer back. We'll give you the full rundown as soon as we hear.

UPDATE - Warner's Twitter account has stated that there's no DLC plans at this time.

-Kevin Cassidy, Go Nintendo

In addition, another Twitter user recently asked if the DLC is coming to the system and received a similar response. Take a look.

As you can see, that Tweet came out almost two weeks ago. The game is set to launch next week, so there's still hope. We'll keep you posted. If any of you find out one way or the other, drop us a tip. Launch trailer for the game after the break.

Wii U version of Injustice: Gods Among Us supports Off-TV Play

Playing Injustice: Gods Among Us on Wii U GamePad

Developer NetherRealm's upcoming title Injustice: Gods Among Us is almost here, and the company has shared a few details about the Wii U version. The game will support Off-TV Play, allowing you play solely on the GamePad if you so desire. Players will also have the option to have a quick move list on the touchscreen, making it easier to pull off certain attacks. The Xbox 360 and PS3 version will also have quick moves as well, but they must be accessed through the pause menu, meaning gameplay will be interrupted.

A new trailer has been released which highlights Green Lantern, one of the many playable superheroes in the fighter. You can watch it after the break.

Injustice: Gods Among Us DLC may not be coming to Wii U (Update: DLC coming this summer)

Blackest Night DLC is coming to the PS3 and Xbox 360 but may not be available on the Wii U
The Wii U box art does not make an appearance in the announcement trailer.

Update - 5/9/13: Warner Bros. says the DLC should be available on the Wii U "this summer." Click here for article.

Update - 4/18/13: Producer Hector Sanchez says that a patch is in the works for the Wii U version of the game. Click here for details.

A new trailer for Injustice: Gods Among Us has been released which reveals the "Blackest Night DLC" for the game. The pack features zombie versions of the playable characters and is adapted from the DC Comics miniseries of the same name. The content is currently available as a pre-order exclusive from Amazon's German store for the Xbox 360 and PS3. As you can see from the screenshot above, the Wii U version is noticeably absent in the announcement trailer.

This latest DLC reveal follows the announcement of the Red Son DLC which is a pre-order bonus available exclusively from GameStop in North America and Game in the UK. If you take a look at GameStop's pages for the game, you can see that the Wii U version is apparently not slated to receive that pack either.

Kevin Cassidy of Go Nintendo has reached out to Warner Bros. for comment and is now reporting that the company has stated there are no plans for DLC on the Wii U version of the game.

List of Wii U games scheduled for release in 2013

Wii U Premium console and GamePad controller

Here is a list of Wii U games that are scheduled for release in 2013. This list has appeared on a number of Nintendo sites, and some of these titles are questionable. For example, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 is rumored to be coming to the system based on a listing by the ESRB which was deleted a few days after it appeared, and the official website for the game doesn't even mention the system. Also, Nintendo's own website says the release date for Bayonetta 2 is "to be determined" and makes no mention of a 2013 release. Nevertheless, the list does give a pretty good picture of what to expect, although it goes without saying that there will be more titles announced as the days go by.

-Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2
-Aliens: Colonial Marines
-Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage 2
-Rayman Legends
-LEGO City: Undercover
-The Amazing Spider-Man
-Sniper Elite V2
-Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
-Injustice: Gods Among Us
-Pikmin 3
-Wii Fit U
-Bayonetta 2
-The Wonderful 101
-Sacrilegium
-Game & Wario
-Project CARS
-Need for Speed: Most Wanted
-Toki Tori 2
-Cloudberry Kingdom
-Mutant Mudds Deluxe
