Update: The game no longer appears on the "Earn Coins" page on Club Nintendo. It may have been an error, and it is unclear if the deal is still in effect.

Original Story

Yesterday, a free version of Namco's Wii U launch title Tank! Tank! Tank! arrived on the Wii U eShop, with additional content available for purchase by those who want more options. If you haven't already downloaded the free-to-play game, here's an incentive for you to give it a chance: Club Nintendo is currently offering 60 coins to those who download it and complete a survey. Not bad.

Tank! Tank! Tank! now free-to-play in Europe

Box art for Wii U game Tank! Tank! Tank!

Tank! Tank! Tank! is one Wii U launch title that received a lukewarm reception from critics and gamers alike. Due to poor sales, Namco-Bandai converted the game into a free-to-play title in Japan, offering a basic version to everyone in the hopes that they could make money from players downloading additional content.

The same business model is now in effect in Europe, with a "Basic Pack" available to download from the eShop for free. It features three modes: Monster Battle, Free-For-All, and Team Versus, and can be played up to three times a day. Additional content is available for purchase, with a total of 12 add-on packs available. Purchasing any additional content removes the play limit, allowing you to play as much as you want.

YouTube user Kwing recently reviewed the retail version, and he was not impressed. Still, it is available for free, so European gamers might want to take a look at what it has to offer. You can watch the review via the link below.

Tank! Tank! Tank! - Video Review by Kwing

Box art for Wii U game Tank! Tank! Tank!

In Tank! Tank! Tank!, players take control of tanks and try to take down huge monsters which are obviously inspired by classic Japanese monster movies like Godzilla and its many sequels. The levels contain destructible elements, and there are a variety of different weapons, including plasma bolts, machine guns, missiles, and flamethrowers. The Wii U exclusive also has a few different multiplayer modes as well.

Critical reception has been mostly negative, with many reviewers saying it's fun for a while but gets old fast. YouTube user Kwing has posted his video review of the game, and he seems to share their opinion. Video after the break.
