Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director's Cut "Behind the Scenes" video
Deus Ex: Human Revolution is coming to the Wii U on May 7th, but it's not a simple port. Instead, Square Enix and Straight Right are reworking the triple-A title to take full advantage of the console's features and processing power. The graphics have been improved quite a bit, boss battles have been overhauled in response to feedback from players, and the enemy AI has also been enhanced. In addition, the GamePad can be used to quickly peform moves, view maps, and much more.
Square Enix has put together a new video which gives a "behind the scenes" look at the development of the new Director's Cut, and it's certainly worth a look. You can watch it after the break.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director's Cut Announcement Trailer
Emile Pedneault, who is one of the game designers working on Deus Ex: Human Revolution, believes that it looks "even sharper than the PC version," and also revealed that "the team is not currently planning to institute any changes made for the Director's Cut into the Xbox 360, PS3, or PC versions of the game." In other words, if you want to play the enhanced version of the hit game, you'll need a Wii U.
Publisher Square Enix has released a trailer for the game which shows how the game makes use of the GamePad's features to deliver an experience only possible on Nintendo's new console. The video reconfirms that the graphics have been improved, boss battles have been redone in response to player feedback, and all previous DLC will be included on-disc. Trailer after the break.

Wii U will have "ultimate" version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Deus Ex: Human Revolution is coming to the Wii U, and executive game director Jean-Francois Dugas and game designer Emile Pedneault recently spoke to Eurogamer about the upcoming port. They told the site that Nintendo fans will be getting the "ultimate" version of the game.
Australian studio Straight Right, who recently ported Mass Effect 3 to the platform, are serving as co-developer. And like their previous work, Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut will not be simple port, but an enhanced version.
Here's a short summary of all the improvements:
- Boss battles have been overhauled to make them less annoying. Certain bosses can be killed without firing a single bullet.
- Graphics have been improved, with anti-aliasing making the cut — this was missing from both the PS3 and 360 versions. Shadows are also better on the Wii U.
- Enemy AI enhancements included in The Missing Link DLC have been retrofitted to the entire game for the Wii U, which will mean that AI is more consistent and convincing throughout the duration of the adventure.
- Swipe controls are mapped to the GamePad screen, allowing you to quickly perform in-game moves — such as throwing back a grenade — with the flick of a finger.
- All existing DLC is included, but has been intelligently slotted into the main narrative.
- An eight-hour director's commentary is included, which can be listened to as you play the game.
As you can see, there are quite a few changes, but the Wii U GamePad is what will really make the experience unique. The high-tech controller will serve as "The Neural Hub," which makes things like maps and inventory much more accessible. Here's what Dugas had to say about the feature:
One of the first CGI trailers we did in 2010 showed Jensen's vision turning into Smart Vision, and you saw an enemy with all this information. Now it gets closer to that feel, that wasn't present in [the original] Human Revolution.Dugas went on to explain that they decided to port the game to Nintendo's console due to their desire to create the "ultimate edition" of the game with new content, and they felt that the GamePad was perfect for the job. You can check out the full article via the source link below.
We used the GamePad to improve the immersion of the game. We found that this touch-screen, the GamePad and everything, is closer to the vision of Deus Ex, where you are someone who is augmented and you have systems implemented in you that give you the edge in combat in all situations.
All the systems are now linked to the Neural Hub. All your maps, your inventory, your augmentation menu, your mission log, are now systems in Adam Jensen.
You have the impression when playing that the Wii U GamePad is part of Adam Jensen and one of his useful augmentations. It doesn't break the pace.
