Pandora's Tower will be released in North America on April 16th

Box art for Wii game Pandora's Tower

Publisher XSEED Games has announced that the Wii-exclusive Pandora's Tower will be released in North America on Tuesday, April 16th, 2013.

The action RPG tells the story of a singer named Elena who is slowly transforming into a monster as the result of a curse. Players take on the role of an ex-mercenary named Aeron who battles his way through thirteen towers filled with enemies and beasts as he tries to reverse Elena's transformation. Pandora's Tower was co-developed by Ganbarion and Nintendo exclusively for the Wii, and has a Metacritic average of 74 as of this writing. Since the Wii U is backwards compatible with Wii games, RPG fans might want to take a look at what it has to offer.

If you would like to pre-order from Amazon or read an overview, you can do so via the following link:

The English version of the trailer doesn't show much gameplay at all, but the Japanese trailer does. You can watch it after the break.

Darksiders II - Video Review by IGN

Darksiders II inventory on Wii U GamePad

One of the "hardcore" Wii U launch titles is Darksiders II, which puts players in the role of Death as he battles the forces of evil and tries to clear the name of his brother, War. The Wii U version of Darksiders II includes the first expansion pack, Argul's Tomb, along with all of the pre-order bonus content on disc. The extra material is said to be worth a good five hours.

Obviously, what really sets the Wii U version apart from the other platforms is the GamePad. Players can use it to view the map, access the huge inventory screens without pausing, play on the GamePad alone without the need for a TV, and dodge and jump with simple gestures. If you don't like motion controls, you should know that they are optional.

Darksiders II was released in August for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, receiving very good reviews. The Xbox 360 version has a Metacritic average of 84 based on 62 reviews, while the PS3 version has an 84 as well based on 38 reviews. The Wii U average is currently at 85 based on 4 reviews, and it will most likely stay in that range as it's said to be "the exact same game."

IGN has posted their video review of the Darksiders II, and they gave it a 7.5 out of 10, the same score they gave the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions. Apparently the new GamePad features weren't enough for them to raise the score at all. Video review after the break.

One of the lower-profile games for the Wii U is Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2013. We haven't really heard much about it since it was announced but the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC versions are already available. Seeing as how the Wii U version is a port, it will be pretty much the same game. To give you an idea of what it's like, here's a 10-minute gameplay video of the PC version which shows some action from the Snowstorm level. Video after the break.

Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2013 - Trailer

Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2013 video game

One of the Wii U launch window games we haven't heard much about is Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2013. The Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii versions were just released on October 23rd, and there is a special edition that comes with a light gun called the Fearmaster. The Xbox 360 and PS3 light guns actually have built-in heart rate sensors while the Wii light gun does not. There hasn't been any solid info on the Wii U version, but it should be pretty similar to the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions. No word on whether or not the light gun will be available for Nintendo's new console. Trailer after the break.
