There has been a lot of speculation that GameCube games will be available on the Wii U Virtual Console, and Reggie Fils-Aime himself has stated that he would love to see it happen. While there hasn't been any official confirmation yet, the latest issue of Retro Gamer magazine says, in no uncertain terms, that GameCube games will be available for download.
"Backwards compatibility with Wii will be included but you'll no longer be able to play GameCube titles. They'll be on the Virtual Console store instead."
This could merely be wishful thinking on the part of the publication, but they could very well know something the rest of us don't. Given the statements of Reggie and many others about the subject, we'd be surprised if GameCube games don't make their way to the Wii U Virtual Console in the near future.
