James Bond game developer Eurocom shuts down
Recently, Eurocom announced that they had reduced their number of employees from over 200 to just under 50 as a result of restructuring, and said they would be focusing primarily on mobile platforms. Now it appears the company is out of business altogether, as they have announced they have let their remaining staff go and are entering administration.
Eurocom has been around since the days of the NES, with many hits spanning a variety of platforms. They have made quite a few James Bond games over the years, including The World Is Not Enough, James Bond 007: Nightfire, Quantum of Solace (PS2 version only), GoldenEye 007 (Wii), GoldenEye 007: Reloaded (Xbox 360, PS3), and 007 Legends, which was released just a few weeks ago. All of their Bond games received great reviews, with 007 Legends being the only exception. 007 Legends was widely panned by critics, and Games Industry International reported that the title's quality may have suffered as a result of very tight deadlines set by publisher Activision, who wanted it to be in stores when the latest Bond film, Skyfall, was released.
