New Super Mario Bros. U A Launch Title...Sort Of
Nintendo recently said that New Super Mario Bros U would be released “shortly” after the Wii U console launches, which upset fans who expected the game to launch alongside the console. To quell the discontent of their fans, Nintendo issued a statement, saying that NSMBU's release date hasn’t changed and will be a Wii U launch title.
Kit Ellis, the Nintendo rep who said the game would be released after launch, recently told GoNintendo that he was mistaken. NSMBU is still set for a Holiday 2012 release, and Nintendo still classifies it as a launch title, although Nintendo's definition of "launch title" is kind of odd. Reggie Fils-Aime recently told IGN that the launch window for Wii U games is "launch plus three or four months." That's a pretty broad window.
