Sounds like this will be exponentially better than WiiWare. |
Emily Rogers of Not Enough Shaders has interviewed multiple industry insiders and claims that developers will get a larger percentage of revenue for Wii U eShop games than they will for releasing them on Xbox Live Arcade or the PlayStation Network. Rogers also claims Nintendo is "aggressively seeking Indie games." This hardly comes as a surprise. The big N's new console is powerful enough to run anything the Xbox 360 or PS3 have to offer, and if they want to compete, they'll need a selection of downloadable content that is comparable to that of their rivals. Their previous service, WiiWare, was widely criticized by developers for just about every reason you can think of, most notably for making it difficult to make a profit. In fact, many companies decided they'd rather not bother. Looks like Nintendo's learned from their past mistakes.
