GamesRadar thinks Wii U isn't ready for launch, being rushed by Nintendo

Wii U Controller and Console
Will the big N have all the bugs fixed before the system launches?

The staff of GamesRadar are attending GamesCom this year, and they are concerned about Nintendo's new console. According to one of their latest articles, the new model of the Pro Controller was suffering from "dreadful" input lag and the Wii U demo units crashed on multiple occasions while running Rayman Legends and Assassin's Creed. While some sites have twisted the article's words to make things sound worse than they are, I thought I'd include these unaltered words from Justin Towell, the author of said piece: "there's something wrong with this version of the Pro Controller. It will not be like this at launch, I'll tell you that for nothing. But why is it like this now?" More after the break.

Towell also commented that the Wii U version of Assassin's Creed III doesn't look as good as the PlayStation 3 version, which echoes statements from other sources. Still, this should come as no surprise, given the explanation Ubisoft has issued in regards to that matter. In case you missed it, Ubisoft has said the Wii U version of the game isn't at the same stage of development as they have had limited time working with the new console. Furthermore, the release date of the Wii U version has not been announced, so there's still hope that the graphics will be almost up to par with the PS3 version when it eventually ships.

On the positive side, it has been confirmed that Sega & All-Stars Racing Transformed will have one feature not possible on the other systems: 5 player mode. Thanks to the extra screen provided by the GamePad, four players can race onscreen while a fifth joins the action using nothing but the new controller. Not bad.

In his closing comments, Justin Towell summed up the experience this way: "This was admittedly a collection of third-party showings, instead of super-slick, ultra regimented demos from the Big N itself. But in terms of how the Wii U is being presented to the press so close to launch, the overall impression I took from the show is that the machine isn't quite there yet. And at this late stage that's a bit worrying.
