No matter what way you look at it, the Deluxe Set is the better deal. |
If you haven't heard yet, those who buy the Wii U Deluxe Set will be automatically enrolled in the Deluxe Digital Promotion, a program that rewards Wii U owners with points to use for future purchases every time they download a game from the eShop. Nintendo product manager Bill Trinen elaborated on the program in a recent interview with 1up.com, and confirmed that the only way to get into the program is to buy a Wii U Deluxe Set, which is yet another reason gamers should pay the extra $50 for the bundle.
1up: Will there be any way to gain access to some of the Deluxe Digital Promotion stuff that’s included in the Deluxe set outside of that? Will there be any way to do that?
Trinen: “No, that’s tied directly to the Deluxe set… When you’re purchasing digital content, what that does is it gets you credit back that you can then build up and use to purchase additional digital content. That’s the idea behind the promotion.”
If the shortage of Deluxe Sets continues and you feel the urge to settle for the Basic Set, you should keep in mind that the promotion is scheduled to continue through 2014.
