Miyamoto says Metroid Blast reflects his ideas for the series

Metroid Blast in Nintendo Land
A glimpse of the future?

In a recent interview with GameKult, Miyamoto was asked about the future of Metroid on Wii U and whether the next game will be made in the style of Metroid PrimeMetroid: Other M, or something else. His answer?

Miyamoto: "You know, the kind of ideas I have on Metroid are already reflected in the mini-game that is devoted to the series in Nintendo Land, Metroid Blast."

While some might think Miyamoto is hinting that Metroid Blast is a vision of things to come, that isn't necessarily the case. He did play a serious role in the early development stages of Metroid Prime, but others within Nintendo had more influence on that title as well its sequels. Also, Metroid: Other M was developed by Team Ninja with series co-creator Yoshio Sakamoto serving as producer. It will be interesting to see who is entrusted with the development of the next entry in the series and what sort of direction they decide to take it in.
