New Super Mario Bros. U director explains why Princess Peach isn't a playable character
In a recent interview, director Masataka Takemoto was asked why Princess Peach isn’t a playable character in New Super Mario Bros. U. Takemoto explained that she was left out because she had her own unique moves and animation in Super Mario Bros. 2, and the team wanted every playable character to control the same as Mario.
“In Super Mario Bros 2, Princess Peach had her own unique moves and animation. In this series, we want all the players to have the same moves and animations as Mario, and Princess Peach isn’t suited for that.”
