Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate a "smash hit"

Playing Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on Wii U GamePad

Capcom recently reported their annual financial results, and they reported profits in net and operating incomes. The company had some interesting comments on game sales, particularly in regards to Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, which is known in Japan as Monster Hunter Tri G HD Ver.

Furthermore, "Monster Hunter 3 (Tri) G HD Ver.", which was our first title for the new home video console "Wii U" that was launched in December 2012, also became a smash hit. However, its package sales were generally soft.

Unfortunately, Capcom did not explain what they meant by "package sales." The term could have been referring to physical copies, which would indicate that the digital version was very successful while physical copies were not as popular. Due to the fact that the report was focused primarily on Japan, the term could also have been a reference to the Japan-exclusive Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Wii U Pack, a bundle which includes a Wii U Premium console along with a copy of the popular game.

While Capcom's first Wii U title has been successful, the company did not reveal specific sales figures for any region.
