The Amazing Spider-Man 2 coming to Wii U

Activision and Marvel Entertainment have announced that a new game based on the upcoming film The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is in development and will be come to the Wii U next spring. Beenox, the studio that created the first game in the series, is crafting the second entry as well, which will provide players with even more third-person web-slinging action. The press release says the story will not focus exclusively entirely on the new film, which isn't surprising given the first game also deviated from the source material to provide players with a variety of enemies and scenarios to tackle.

Here's a brief statement from Thomas Wilson of Beenox:

The first The Amazing Spider-Man game gave players their own beautifully animated, free-roaming city of Manhattan to traverse and explore – a playground of majestic scale in which to live out our common hero fantasies...and the overwhelming message from fans was: ‘MORE!’ That’s what our team is working toward with The Amazing Spider-Man 2 – we’re giving gamers more abilities, more upgrades, more challenges, and more freedom to progress. And with the game launching alongside the new movie, offering an expanded interactive experience beyond the film, fans of the franchise won’t want to miss playing it.

In addition to the Wii U, the movie tie-in will also be released on the Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Windows PC. Teaser trailer after the break.
