NetherRealm is hard at work on
Injustice: Gods Among Us, a cross-platform fighting game that is
coming to the Wii U next year. They're looking to make good use of
the Wii U GamePad, rather than using it in a gimmicky way, as was the
case with many third-party games for Nintendo's current console.
Ed Boon, a member of the team, told The
Verge "We're going to have some conversation about the Wii U's
unique controller and to use it in a fighting game that's not just a
gimmick." He commented that one thing they could do is allow
players to use the touch screen to pull off special moves easily.
Capcom did the same exact thing with their 3DS version of Super
Street Fighter IV, and by all accounts it was a brilliant move,
hailed by many gamers who have trouble performing Guile and Vega's
combos.
Boon also said that they're still
trying to figure out other ways to get the most out of the Wii U
GamePad, adding "It's certainly not smething that we've cracked
yet." Injustice: Gods Among Us is a fighting game that takes
place in the DC Comics Universe, featuring Batman, Superman, and
Wonderman, among others. More on this as it breaks.
