| Tons of new information on Metroid Blast, Balloon Trip Breeze, and Nintendo Land itself. |
A NeoGAF user has posted a detailed summary of what the latest issue of Game Informer has to say about NintendoLand. His post is a jumble of random facts, so I've sorted them by topic for our readers' convenience. There is a ton of information after the break.
Metroid Blast
-Supports 5 players
-Nunchuck and Wii Remote pointer controls (standard setup for Wii shooters)
-Requires Wii MotionPlus
-Wii U GamePad controls Samus' ship (there might be other vehicles)
-4 player modes:
-Free-For-All
-Team Deathmatch
-Appears to have a Horde-Mode: Humans vs. AI-controlled enemies
-Multiple maps, including a lava-filled Norfair map
-Norfair map has a mechanical Kraid that players can climb using the grapple beam
-Classic Metroid music
-Players all wear Samus-style armor
Balloon Trip Breeze
-Appears to be inspired by Nintendo's NES classic Balloon Fight
-Players guide their Miis through side-scrolling levels with obstacles like electric spikes, crazy birds, and hungry fish
-Stylus is used to draw gusts of wind to direct Miis
-The object of the game is to fly as far as possible
-TV shows complete view of playing field, GamePad shows a zoomed-in view for more accurate control
Nintendo Land (the hub world)
-Players ride a train from attraction to attraction
-Players earn coins from attractions, which they spend in the hub for various items
-Winning pachinko games adds Nintendo memorabilia to the park
That's a lot of information. Or at least, it's certainly more than what Nintendo themselves have shared. Nintendo Land is meant to introduce players to the GamePad's unique features, much like Wii Sports allowed players to get the hang of the Wii Remote's motion sensing capabilities. Nintendo Land is meant to breed competition among players via the Miiverse, in effect jump starting the new social network. I really hope the game comes bundled with the console. If not, it will be a real disappointment. Just 5 more days until Nintendo's big conference. Hang in there guys.
