Tekken producer: working with Nintendo is allowing us to include unique content in Wii U version of Tekken Tag Tournament 2

Mega Mushrooms in Tekken Tag Tournament 2 for Wii U
Mega Mushrooms are one of the perks Wii U owners will get.

The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Tekken: Tag Tournament 2 are finished and on their way to stores for release next week. With that out of the way, producer Katsuhiro Harada and his talented team can focus all their attention on perfecting the Wii U version of the game. Harada seems to be really enthusiastic about creating a version for a Nintendo console. In an interview with Silicon Era, he explained that Namco Bandai's relationship with the big N has opened the door to unique possibilities:

Silicon Era: Back at Nintendo's press conference we saw the Mega Mushroom as an item that made Heihachi gigantic in Tekken Tag Tournament 2 for Wii U. That was pretty interesting! What else can you tell us about the Wii U version?

Katsuhiro Harada: Well, it is kind of difficult to mention much because we are focusing on the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions as the PR focus. But we can say this - because we are collaborating with Nintendo we really wanted to create features like [the Mega Mushroom] that are only possible because we are working with Nintendo. That's just one example and we hope that everyone will be looking forward to the other things we have to show.

Sounds great, but I'm hoping his comment about making the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions the PR focus is due to their launching first and only a temporary thing.  The Wii did manage to get a lot of third-party games, but developers, for the most part, paid mere lip service to the system. The big N has been struggling for some time now to get third-parties to fully promote their games for Nintendo consoles, and I'm starting to wonder if that trend will continue during the Wii U era. Only time will tell.
