The Wii U console can play Wii games, Virtual Console games, and WiiWare games, but Nintendo of America has confirmed in an interview that they cannot be played on the GamePad's screen. It appears the idea of using the fancy controller as a portable Wii was nothing but a dream. Kind of a shame really, and many gamers are voicing their discontent. Here's hoping Nintendo may release a firmware update that makes it possible in the future.
