Nintendo confirms New Super Mario Bros. U will run in 1080p

Update: Nintendo has revised the statement and it appears the game might not run in 1080p after all. It now reads: "Experience Mario like never before... in high definition, only on the Wii U console!"

Nintendo had previously said that all of their first-party titles would be running in 720p. Now, it appears that at least one of them will run in full HD. According to the official website for New Super Mario Bros. U, which launched earlier today, the highly-anticipated platformer will support 1080p:

"Experience Mario like never before... in full 1080p HD, only on the Wii U console!"

This is definitely great news. Here's hoping Pikmin 3 will also take full advantage of the console's graphics prowess.

  1. No it doesn't, I think they changed it if it ever did say that. It currently reads - "Experience Mario like never before... in high definition, only on the Wii U console!"

    1. You're right, they've changed it! I've updated this article and made a new post:

There are still quite a few websites who haven't caught the change yet. Thanks for pointing that out.
