Nintendo selling Wii U at a loss

Wii U console and controller
That controller isn't cheap.

Nintendo has been very quiet about whether or not they will be making money on each Wii U console sold, but it appears we now have an answer. According to Bloomberg, the Big N has revealed that they will be selling the system at a loss.

Bloomberg: "Nintendo also lowered its forecast for 3DS software sales 4.1 percent and said it will sell its new Wii U model at a loss."

The information is said to have come from Nintendo Senior Managing Director Yoshihiro Mori, which was later confirmed by Satoru Iwata, the President of Nintendo himself.

Iwata: "Manufacturing costs are expensive, and we priced the machine at a level customers would accept. It’s important for us to develop a healthy business next fiscal year by combining sales of hardware and software."
