One of the "hardcore" Wii U launch titles is Darksiders II, which puts players in the role of Death as he battles the forces of evil and tries to clear the name of his brother, War. The Wii U version of Darksiders II includes the first expansion pack, Argul's Tomb, along with all of the pre-order bonus content on disc. The extra material is said to be worth a good five hours.
Obviously, what really sets the Wii U version apart from the other platforms is the GamePad. Players can use it to view the map, access the huge inventory screens without pausing, play on the GamePad alone without the need for a TV, and dodge and jump with simple gestures. If you don't like motion controls, you should know that they are optional.
Darksiders II was released in August for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, receiving very good reviews. The Xbox 360 version has a Metacritic average of 84 based on 62 reviews, while the PS3 version has an 84 as well based on 38 reviews. The Wii U average is currently at 85 based on 4 reviews, and it will most likely stay in that range as it's said to be "the exact same game."
IGN has posted their video review of the Darksiders II, and they gave it a 7.5 out of 10, the same score they gave the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions. Apparently the new GamePad features weren't enough for them to raise the score at all. Video review after the break.
