Karateka is a remake of the classic 1984 sidescroller in which players guide an unnamed hero through waves of enemies in an attempt to rescue Princess Mariko from the evil Akuma. It was recently released on the Xbox 360 and received mixed reviews. It currently has a metacritic average of 62 based on 13 reviews from critics. Game Informer gave it a solid score of 8 out of 10, but they were one of the exceptions. It is slated for a "November 2012" release on the Wii U eShop.
The staff of Giant Bomb have uploaded 24 minutes of gameplay footage of the Xbox 360 version with some commentary to explain the plot and mechanics. Video after the break.
