Warner Bros. has announced that Batman: Arkham Origins is coming to the Wii U, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. The first two games in the series were created by Rocksteady, but Origins is being crafted by Warner Bros. Games Montreal, who have been given full access to the modified Unreal engine used by their predecessors to ensure that the new title maintains the look and feel of the "Arkhamverse."

As the title suggests, the game is a prequel and takes place years before Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, telling the story of how "young, unrefined Batman" encountered many supervillains for the first time. Deathstroke will appear as one of the Dark Knight's foes, and is featured prominently on the cover of the May issue of Game Informer.

Eric Holmes, who is known for his work as the lead designer of the open world action hits The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction and Prototype, is serving as creative director of Arkham Origins.

Batman: Arkham Origins is scheduled for release on October 25, 2013. Trailer with developer commentary after the break.
