EA: FIFA 13 will look better on Wii U, GamePad will enhance gameplay

EA Sports is working on a Wii U version of FIFA 13, and apparently it will be the best version of them all. In an interview with Official Nintendo Magazine, producer Matt Prior said  "It's on a par with 360 and PS3 and we were even able to make some key graphical improvements. We focused on areas that would have the most impact on the game." There have been a number of developers who have commented on the graphical prowess of Nintendo's latest console, and if EA is to be believed, those who say the system has a leg up on the competition are speaking the truth.

Graphics aside, what is really going to set Wii U games apart from the pack will be the way they utilize the GamePad. Some developers have been coy when asked how they plan to use the unique features of the new controller, but EA has spelled it out in no uncertain terms. Using the touchscreen, gamers will be able to take control of players by simply tapping them, and with a second tap they can mark an opposing player and tackle him. The touchscreen will also allow for passes not possible in previous versions of the game, and give players an amazing degree of control when shooting. Accessing stats and managing the team on-the-fly will also be done via the small screen as well.

The full interview can be seen in the latest edition of Official Nintendo Magazine, which is on store shelves now.

  1. Help Please..
I purchased the game in AZ, so I am thinking this game will have English and Spanish for Commentaries. Well it does, even French. that's is all good, but, the Spanish is not the Spanish EA give us before. The Spanish is from SPAIN. I know sometimes changes have to be made. But, if they are announcing a New ESPN Commentaries EspaƱol for this game where the hell is it? I am willing to pay DLC if I have to. Or do I need to buy the game in Mexico or even South America. Can someone please point me?

    1. Hi Greg,

I'm not too familiar with FIFA 13 and don't really have an answer for you. Here's a link to the FIFA 13 support page on EA's official website. Maybe someone there can help you out.
