Chasing Aurora dev: Wii U eShop is more indie-friendly than Wii ever was

Chasing Aurora has a very stylish look.

Broken Rules is an indie developer you might not be familiar with, but they're the team who created the well-received WiiWare game And Yet It Moves, which attained a Metacritic average of 83. They are currently working on a Wii U eShop title called Chasing Aurora, and they have good things to say about Nintendo's new digital distribution service. In an interview with Official Nintendo Magazine, Martin Pichlmair of Broken Rules had this to say.

Pichlmair: "I can not talk about the new eShop in detail. What I do know is that Nintendo is doing everything to make this console much more open, social and indie-friendly than the Wii ever was."

About a week ago, Lauri Hyvarinen, the producer of Trine 2 said the Wii U eShop sounds very promising, and it's good to see more and more developers praising Nintendo's new program. There was a significant amount of criticism about the way WiiWare was handled, and it looks like the Big N has learned from their mistakes.

Chasing Aurora is an indie game that was announced at E3 but hasn't received much attention from the press. The official website refers to it as "the first game in a series of 2D aerial action games about the dream of flight." According to Nintendo's launch lineup press release, it will be released in November. Chasing Aurora was available to play at PAX Prime, and the staff of Polygon managed to get an interview with the developer's CEO, Felix Bohatsch. You can check out the game's trailer, along with the interview, after the break.
