Adding Friends on Wii U

Wii U Friend Request

With the Wii U, Nintendo has finally given players a way to add friends without using the dreaded Friend Codes, thanks to the creation of Nintendo Network IDs and Miiverse. Here's a quick overview.

You can interact with friends in two places:

1. Your Friends List via the Home Menu
2. The Miiverse Hub

You can add friends in two ways:

1. Exchange Nintendo Network IDs via Friends List

-Each player must add the other's ID to their Friends List
-If one friend doesn't add the other, nothing happens

2. One-Way Requests via Miiverse

-Load Miiverse
-Go to User Menu in the upper-left corner (represented by your Mii)
-Select "Search User"
-Type in the name of the person you want to add (name must be specific, case doesn't matter)
-View their profile
-Press "Friend Request" button on the right side of the screen, near "Follow"
-To perform another Friend Request, you head back to the User Menu and repeat the process
