Eurocom, the developer of the critically acclaimed Wii version of GoldenEye 007, as well as the recent Bond game 007 Legends, has reduced its number of employees from over 200 to just 50 as a result of restructuring. They will be focusing primarily on mobile platforms from now on. Eurocom Director Hugh Binns issued the following statement on the matter.

"Eurocom are undertaking a restructuring which I regret to say has meant we've made the majority of our workforce redundant today.

This includes many very experienced, talented and highly skilled employees, and we'd like to thank them all for your hard work and efforts.

We've fought to try and save as many jobs as possible, but the steep decline in demand for console games, culminating in a number of console projects falling through in the last week, left us with no option. Eurocom has retained a core staff of just under 50 employees and will be focusing mainly on mobile opportunities moving forward."

Eurocom has around since the days of the NES, with many hits spanning a variety of platforms. They have made quite a few James Bond games over the years, including The World Is Not Enough, James Bond 007: Nightfire, Quantum of Solace (PS2 version only), GoldenEye 007 (Wii), GoldenEye 007: Reloaded (Xbox 360, PS3), and 007 Legends, which was released just a few weeks ago. All of their Bond games received great reviews, with 007 Legends being the only exception. 007 Legends was widely panned by critics, and it has been reported that the title was victim of very tight deadlines set by publisher Activision, who wanted it to be in stores when the latest Bond film, Skyfall, was released.
