Kids want iPad the most, Wii U comes in second

According to a new poll by Nielsen, children between the ages of 6 and 12 want the iPad more than any other gadget. A whopping 48% of them said they wanted Apple's tablet, while Nintendo's Wii U came in second place with 39% saying they want the new console.

Nielsen also polled children ages 13 and up, and they showed significantly less interest in the system. The iPad came in first place with 21%, "Computer" came in second with 19%, "Tablet computer other than iPad" came in third with 18%, and the Wii U came in fourth with 17%.

The poll was conducted in October and November, and asked about 3,000 American consumers ages 6 and up which high-tech gear they wanted the most. The interviews with children between 6 and 12 were "conducted as paired interviews, with a parent accompanying the child for the duration of the survey.
