Wii U teardown photos and video surface


Wii U internal components


The staff of PC Perspective cracked open a Wii U and reported that the RAM has a maximum bandwidth of 17GB/s earlier today. They have now posted a lengthy article complete with pictures and video of the procedure.

Here's a quick overview of what they show:

-MCM - multi-chip module which contains the CPU and GPU
-RAM - gDDR3 memory, K4W4G16446B-HC12
          - rated at speeds up to 1066 MHz
          - 4 chips, each with a capacity of 4Gb for a total of 16Gb = 2GB.
-Samsung 8GB NAND flash chip for internal storage (they opened up a Basic Set)
-Heatsink
-Antennas and modules for Wi-Fi and GamePad streaming
     -Hon Hai Win-A2 802.11b/g/n WiFi adapter
     -Hon Hai MIC-B2 and is a dedicated WIFI 11n device, used to stream video to the Wii U Gamepad
-Bluetooth controller
