Darksiders 2 will be removed from European eShop after March 31st

Darksiders II inventory on Wii U GamePad

Darksiders II is a franchise with a lot of potential, but an uncertain future. The latest game was generally received well by critics, but following the collapse of publisher THQ, the IP is in danger of disappearing for good as no one has stepped in to purchase the rights to it.

For Wii U owners who live in Europe, it looks like the only way to play the game on your new console in the near future will be to track down a physical disc. Nintendo has posted a message on the European eShop, advising consumers that the title will be removed from the service after March 31st. While it will no longer be available for purchase, the software will still be available to re-download for those who have already purchased it.

Joystiq has reached out to Nintendo of America for a comment on the status of the game on the North American eShop. As of this writing, they have not received a response.
