Pokémon Scramble U will use NFC capabilities of Wii U GamePad

The latest edition of CoroCoro magazine has released some new information about the upcoming Pokémon Scramble U. The game will be released in Japan on April 24th, and will be the first title to utilize GamePad's NFC capabilities.

A scan of the magazine depicts a player placing a Pokémon figure on the GamePad in a manner reminiscent of the "Portal of Power" used by the Skylanders series. The figures will be released on the same day as Pokémon Scramble U, and will be available at Pokemon Center stores throughout Japan for 200 Yen, which is the equivalent of roughly approx. £1.40 / €1.60 / $2. It has been confirmed that all 649 Pokémon from each generation will be featured in the game.

There has been no word on whether or not the eShop title will be released outside of Japan. The first game, Pokémon Scramble,  was released as a WiiWare title and was known as Pokémon Rumble in the West.
