Kevin Conroy may not voice Batman in Arkham Origins

Batman: Arkham Origins is a prequel to the first two entries in the hit Arkham series, and it is currently in development for the Wii U, Xbox 360, and PS3. Developer Rocksteady is working on other projects, so Warner Bros. Games Montreal is developing the game instead.

Mark Hamill has announced he will not be returning to his role as the Joker, and it appears that he may not be the only major voice actor who is sitting this one out. According to South African publication NAG Magazine, Kevin Conroy, who voiced the Dark Knight in the first two Arkham games, will not reprise his role as Batman in Arkham Origins. The article states that, due to the game featuring a younger version of the titular character, the developer decided to go with a different voice actor.

"To fit the younger vision of the Caped Crusader, WB Games Montreal decided to go with a new voice talent."

Conroy, who recently played the role of Batman in Injustice: Gods Among Us, has been voicing the character for over 20 years, beginning with Batman: The Animated Series in 1992. It should be emphasized that there has not been any official confirmation that he will not be returning. If Warner Bros. or Conroy himself issue a statement, we will update this article.

As it stands, Arkham Origins looks quite promising. Warner Bros. Games Montreal has been given full access to the modified Unreal Engine used to make the first two games, ensuring that it will maintain the look and feel of the "Arkhamverse." In addition, Rocksteady has expressed confidence in the development team's abilities. Eric Holmes, who is known for his work as the lead designer of the open world action hits The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction and Prototype, is serving as creative director of Arkham Origins.
