The big N's hoping a collection of tech demos will win over gamers, but will it be enough? |
Colin Sebastian, an analyst for Robert W. Baird & Co., believes Nintendo isn't doing enough to market the Wii U. He predicts the system will have strong sales when it launches, but it will be mostly Nintendo fans who do all the buying. He suggests the big N needs to do more to win over gamers at large.
Sebastian: "We remain concerned that Nintendo is missing an oppurtunity to build greater mind share ahead of the Wii U launch on November 18. While initial strong sales are likely given the Nintendo fan base, we believe there may be a narrow window of oppurtunity to generate broad consumer interest before next-gen Microsoft and Sony Platforms are announced in [first half of 2013] and launch in Q4 2013."
Nintendo still has not announced the launch date for the Wii U, so unless he knows something the rest of us don't, Sebastian is running with the rumored November 18th launch date. Still, he might be on to something, as many media outlets are reporting mixed feelings about the big N's new console. We'll just have to wait and see.
