Nintendo is pretty much trying to take over your living room. In addition to playing games, the Wii U can also be used to watch movies, sports, and even TV programs. The service includes support for social media, allowing viewers to connect and share with one another via Facebook, Twitter, and more.
The new service is called TVii, and gives each user their own profile, allowing them to create a personalized program guide. Users can access what's on TV, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon video, and even their DVR. TVii is included at no extra cost and will be launched in the United States and Canada, although Nintendo is said to considering an expansion of the service across the Americas.
In an interview with Engadget, Nintendo's director of strategic partnerships, Zach Fountain, revealed that Nintendo TVii will support "all" cable and satellite dish carriers in the U.S. and Canada. To activate the service, you simply enter your account info into the Wii U. Nintendo may be a video game company, but they are definitely branching out into new markets. Video after the break.
