Amazon UK and Asda drop price of Wii U

Wii U Premium console and GamePad controller

In the United Kingdom, retailers have begun discounting the Wii U amidst slowing sales. Amazon UK and Asda have both dropped the price of the Premium and Basic Packs by £50. Asda, which is owned by U.S. retailer Walmart, made the first move, and Amazon UK followed suit shortly afterwards.

A few other UK-based retailers, including ShopTo and Zavvi, had previously lowered prices, but only on a temporary basis. It is unknown if the latest price drops are temporary or not.

Nintendo's guideline figures for the system are £250 for the Basic model and £300 for the Premium. The company has repeatedly said that they they have no plans to officially drop the price themselves.

For those of you in the UK who have been waiting for a discount, here it is.
