Wii U eShop version of Lego City: Undercover requires hard drive

Screenshot of Lego City: Undercover official website which says a hard drive is required to download the eShop version of the game

The Wii U doesn't have a whole lot of storage space, but fortunately, Nintendo made sure that gamers would be able to use external hard drives with the system. As it turns out, gamers who plan on buying the digital version of Lego City: Undercover are going to need one.

As you can see in the image above, the official website for the game has the following message posted under the "pre-order" information for the eShop version:

"An external hard drive is required to download this software. Visit support.nintendo.com for information about storage options."

Eurogamer is reporting that the Wii U exclusive is reportedly 22GB in size. When you consider the fact that the 32GB model of Nintendo's new console only provides about 25GB of usable storage space, it should come as no surprise that a hard drive is needed. The 8GB model of the console only has 3GB of usable storage space, so you'll definitely need a hard drive if you plan on going digital.

If Lego City: Undercover is, in fact, 22GB in size, downloading the title from the eShop could take quite a while, especially for those who have slower connections. Of course, these will only be issues for gamers who prefer digital copies over physical discs.
